UK Research and Innovation brings together the UK Research Councils, Innovate UK and a new organisation, Research England. UKRI`s Open Access Directive stipulates that compliant magazines must offer either a gold “Open Access” option (by paying the publication fee) or an open access green option (if the accepted final version of an article is self-archived online). Gold Open Access Authors can choose to publish in a fully open access journal or in a subscription journal that offers the Open Access option, onlineOpen. Open access Gold articles must be published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. Open Green Access If a UKRI-funded author decides not to pay for Gold Open Access, the author must archive the accepted version of the article himself after a 12-month embargo period (from the first online publication) or after a 24-month embargo on authors funded by AHRC and ESRC. Note: this will be cancelled if the Green Directive “Open Access” offers the review a reduced embargo. For periodicals that do not offer an open access option to gold, the embargo period is reduced to 6 months for authors funded by UKRI`s STM TIPs or 12 months for authors funded by AHRC and ESRC. Authors funded by Wellcome Trust are encouraged to make their research articles freely available, with a gold open access option (where a publication fee is paid) if available. For more information, see Wellcome Trust`s Open Access for authors. Gold Open Access Authors can choose to publish in a fully open access journal or in a subscription journal that offers the Open Access option, onlineOpen. The Trust pays the publication fee for articles in order to make the final article fully accessible when published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license.
To be eligible, authors must be categorized into one of the following categories: The FWF gives authors the freedom to choose between two Gold Open Access options (which pays a publication fee) and a Green Open Access option (where the accepted final version of an article is self-archived online). For more information, see the FWF guidelines. For questions about the FWF`s open access policy, please contact Katharina Rieck, MA. Gold Open Access (1) Open Access in a Hybrid Journal (Gold Open Access) Most Wiley subscription magazines offer a Gold Open Access option called OnlineOpen. Open access Gold articles must be published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. In addition, Wiley will submit the final published version of the article to Europe PubMed Central when publication if publications are included in life sciences (or related topics). APCs are fully covered for onlineopen (View list) magazines for most articles funded by the Austrian Science Fund. Please note that for APIs to be covered, the author must be linked to an institution listed here and the FWF guidelines for peer review publications must be adhered to. For all other hybrid open access publications, publication fees are transferred from the promoters to Wiley and then reimbursed by the FWF to the project proponents, which are peer-reviewed.
